Every since Hillary Clinton lost the election, fake news has emerged as one of the culprits for her defeat. Russian intervention has been cited by newly established web site “Prop or Not” that lists web sites it deems to be “Russian propaganda outlets”.
The Washington Post recently referenced Prop or Not in an article that reported “experts” concluded that Russian propaganda helped spread fake news during the presidential election.
Kelly Riddell of the Washington Times (itself listed on Prop or Not’s Russian propaganda list), notes that labeling news as “fake” is being used not to call out factually incorrect media, but rather to silence dissent. Ms. Riddell points out that all the sites labelled fake news happen to be right leaning sites.
