The Democrats have tried the same tactics that were successful in removing General Flynn from Trump’s cabinet on Jeff Sessions. General Flynn was asked to resign when it surfaced that he had contacts with Russians in December that he did not disclose to Vice President Pence. President Trump made it clear General Flynn did nothing wrong in his actions, but that the failure to report them to Mr. Pence was worthy of asking for his resignation.
The Democrats are now pointing to a couple of meetings that Attorney General Jeff Sessions had with the Russian Ambassador that he did not disclose in his confirmation testimony to Congress. Democratic Senators, including Nancy Pelosi, immediately began calling for Mr. Sessions to resign for “lying to congress”.
.@NancyPelosi I'm sure president Bush will ask for his resignation
A careful review of the exchange that Senator Sessions had with Senator Franklin during his confirmation hearings indicates that Sessions wasn’t asked if he, acting in his capacity as Senator, had meet with Russians, but rather whether as a surrogate of the Trump campaign had communications with the Russians in connection with any exchange of information between Russia and the Trump campaign. To which Sessions responded.
“Senator Franken, I’m not aware of any of those activities. I have been called a surrogate at a time or two in that campaign and I didn’t have — did not have communications with the Russians, and I’m unable to comment on it.”
Trump has stated that he has full confidence in Senator Sessions.
Breitbart News characterized the distortion of Senator Sessions remarks as “Fake News”
President Trump Repeats: I Said Fake News Media is the Enemy of the People
Since Donald Trump has referred to the Fakes News Media in a speech at CPAC and on Twitter as the enemy of the people, the mains stream media has incessantly characterized Mr. Trump’s statement as “the media is the enemy of the people” omitting the word “fake” (eg. hereand here.)
Yesterday, Donald Trump gave Breitbart News an exclusive interview. The first topic was about Donald Trump’s “Fake news is the enemy of the people” statement that the fake news media continually and intentionally omits the word “fake”:
HICKS (Breitbart reporter): “They said ‘Oh Donald Trump said the press is the enemy of the American people.’”
POTUS (Donald Trump): “Right. They take ‘fake’ media off. They say ‘the media is the enemy of—well, they didn’t say the ‘fake media.’ I didn’t say the media is the enemy—I said the ‘fake media.’ They take the word fake out and all of a sudden it’s like I’m against—there are some great reporters like you. I know some great honorable reporters who do a great job like Steve [Holland] from Reuters, others, many others. I wasn’t talking about that. I was talking about the fake media, where they make up everything there is to make up.”
The “Fake News” media was sent into a tizzie today when ten media outlets were prohibited from participating in a “press gaggle’ in White House Press Secretary’ Sean Spicer’s office. Excluded from the press gaggle were CNN, the New York Times, Buzz Feed, the Washington Post, The Hill, Politico, the Daily Mail, the BBC, the Los Angeles Times and the New York Daily News.
Allowed access to Spicer’s office were alternative media news organizations Breitbart, the Washington Times, One America News Network. ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, AP, Reuters, Time and Bloomberg were also invited. AP and Time boycotted the event apparently in solidarity with their main stream media bretheren being excluded.
CNN immediately express outrage issuing a statement calling the exclusion “unacceptable” and CNN’s Jake Tapper calling the move “Un American“. Reporters Without Borders claimed that the exclusion was unacceptable “in the country of the First Amendment”.
Breitbart referred to the media outrage over their exclusion as “fake news”, noting that Presidents Obama often held private briefings exclusively for “liberal media” outlets.
Ad Network Cites “Hate Speech” as Reason For Breitbart Ban
Breitbart is the latest casualty in the demonitizing offensive or fake content war. AppNexus operator of a digital ad network deactivated Breitbart’s ad account after an internal audit found that Breitbart’s content violated AppNexus’ hate speech code.
AppNexus spokesman Joshua Zeitz said that the ban was not permanent and that Breitbart’s account can be reactivated once the content in question is addressed.
While Mr. Zeitz said that AppNexus goal is not to “turn off sites because of ideology”, it did not say which and how much of Breitbart’s content violated their hate speech code.
Breitbart’s 12 Main Stream Media Fake News Stories
As the alternative media and main stream media battle to tar each other with the title of ‘fake news’ purveyors, Breitbart (tagged by the MSM as a “fake news site) enters the fray with its list of 12 MSM fake news stories.
Breitbart digs deep into the archives to pull some MSM whoppers including Rathergate (the reporting by CBS anchor Dan Rather of falsified documents relating to George W. Bush’s Air National Guard service. Mr. Rather has insisted that while the documents may have been fake, the story was real.), the Adventures of Brian Williams (Mr. Williams insisted he came under enemy sniper fire in Iraq, when he didn’t – like Ms. Clinton’s claim of false claim of ‘sniper fire’ in Bosnia) and The Rolling Stone Rape Hoax.
Last week, Joel B. Pollack of Breitbart News joined National Public Radio’s Steve Inskeep. Apparently, the narrative that NPR wanted to push – that Breitbart Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon was a “white nationalist” was refuted by Mr. Pollack.
NPR’s public editor Elizabeth Jensen, responding to listener outrage that Mr. Pollack was able to defend Mr. Bannon, led her to suggest ‘these interviews’ should not be done live.
CNN’s Jake Tapper spoke on behalf of all Americans that are “literally shaking” at the prospect of a Trump Presidency. Mr. Tapper noted that those in the Trump Tower bubble don’t understand how scared many Americans are.
